Jewellery Making Classes

In the Adelaide Hills - Peramangk Country 

I offer a range of jewellery making classes from beginners to experienced practitioners, including specialized jewellery-making techniques. I can also provide individual teaching for you to work at your own pace on a project of your choice. Specialised workshops are offered periodically or can be conducted on request. 

Please contact me if you would like to book a class with a group of friends on a particular day. 

I trained in Germany in traditional metalworking techniques four decades ago. My skills and experience cover a large number of techniques which I am happy to share with you.

Make your own set of stacking rings

Design and make your own set of Sterling Silver Stacker Rings : 1 day - Beginners 

In this 3.5 hour  introductory class you will learn a range of jewellery making techniques and use specialised tools to make  a set of sterling silver stacker ring. The class size is limited to ensure everyone gets assistance and one-on-one time. 

MORE INFORMATION:

I will guide you through the steps of designing and making your own sterling silver set of stacking rings using techniques such as saw-piercing, annealing, hammering, forming, soldering, texturing, filing, sanding and polishing.

This introductory class is designed for beginners with no previous experience. 

All materials, tools and consumables are included in the cost. Sterling silver for your rings will be provided. You will make at least four sterling silver rings  to take home.

Tea/coffee and snack is provided.

Cost: $170           

 Duration:  3.5 hours 

Class size: Maximum 4 people

WAX CARVING JEWELLERY (2 DAYS)

Two Day Class (Beginners)

In this two-day class you will learn how to carve and manipulate and texture wax to shape rings which then can be cast in sterling silver.

I will guide you through the steps of sizing the ring and making a wax model using the ancient technique  of wax carving.

This introductory class is designed for beginners with no previous experience. Or for the intermediate student who hasn't used wax carving techniques.

Please note this is a two class workshop with a week in-between to allow for sending the rings to the foundry for casting them in sterling silver.

Duration: st day  10am - 3pm 
                   2nd day 10am to 1pm

Class size: Maximum 5 people

A meaningful way to celebrate your partnership  through designing and hand-makeing each other’s special rings. 

You are welcome to my studio where I will guide you through the process of designing and making your special rings.

In an initial consultation we will work together to design your rings. There are many different looks and techniques available  for creating your personal, unique rings, That symbolizes your bond. The next step will be to schedule time in my studio to create them.

I will guide you through the process from beginning to end for your custom designed handmade rings to take home.

Earring making: 1day - Beginners 

Design and make your own earrings or pendant. (Beginners)

During this one day course I will teach you the basics of jewellery making to develop and a make pair of earrings or a pendant. The class size will be limited to ensure everyone gets assistance and one-on-one time. 

I will guide you through the steps of designing and then making your own special piece using techniques such as saw-piercing, annealing, hammering, forming, texturing, filing, sanding and polishing.

You will make at least one pair of earrings with handmade sterling silver hooks.

All tools, materials and consumables are supplied and include sterling silver, copper, brass and aluminium for testing. 

(no prerequisites required)

COPPER TEASPOON MAKING

 

One Day Class

In this class you will learn how to design and make a copper teaspoon using metalsmithing techniques. The spoon is made from one piece of copper no soldering required. 

The class is designed for people who have basic metalworking knowledge. You will be guided step by step through the process of designing and making your teaspoon from scratch. All materials for this project are provided. At the end of the day you will be leaving with your own spoon.

ONE ON ONE TEACHING

One on one teaching

Private tuition is perfect for students who would like detailed instruction to develop and deepen existing skills. You will decide which project or techniques you would like to explore. This can include; designing, etching, advanced detailed soldering, stone setting, riveting techniques, chain making, wax work. We will work together to achieve the best outcomes for you. 

MORE INFORMATION:

PRICE:  $100 per hour (a minimum of three hours is required per session)

Please contact me to discuss the project and book a time-slot. 

The fee covers tuition, use of all tools and equipment in the studio, consumables such as saw blades, emery paper, gas and solder and up to 10 grams of sterling silver.
