Design and make your own ring using wax carving methods - Beginners
In this class you will learn how to carve, manipulate and texture wax to shape rings which then can be cast in sterling silver.
I will guide you through the steps of sizing the ring and making a wax model using the ancient technique of wax casting.
Experiment with various tools and methods to add texture, pattern and add intricate details to your ring design, expressing your ideas.
Understand how to properly size and fit your ring to ensure comfort and wearability.
Additionally a small round gem can be added to the design, which I can set for you an additional fee. Either bring your own or alternatively I have a small selection at my studio to choose from available.
This introductory class is designed for beginners with no previous experience. Or for the intermediate student who hasn't experimented with wax carving techniques.
By the end of the class, you will have completed your own hand-carved wax ring ready to be sent off to the foundry for casting it into precious metal. I will collect the ring and finish it for you, ready to be picked up or send back to you via express post (approximately 3 weeks after the workshop)
All wax and carving tools will be provided. Participants are welcome to bring any additional tools or design inspirations they may have.
Up to 10 grams of sterling silver and the casting fee is included.
Tea, coffee and a piece of cake is provided for morning tea.
